Introduce Yourself!
Hi! I’m Larisa Posner, owner of Goldfish Swim School Springfield and Livingston. We are long time New Jersey residents.
Kids? How many? Ages?
We have 3 wonderful kids: Maya, Rowan and Shane.
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Union County?
I was born in Russia and moved to the US when I was a toddler. My husband and I both moved from New York to New Jersey in 2002.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
My husband Jeff and I opened our first Goldfish Swim School in Livingston in 2017. We were excited to open Goldfish Swim School in Springfield during the summer of 2020 but of course, it was delayed due to the pandemic. We finally opened our doors November 2021. Since then, we have been extremely lucky in building an amazing staff and have fabulous member families who come to swim with us. I love seeing all the cutie pies in the pool having fun and learning life-saving water safety and swim skills.
Favorite things to do in town/Union County?
My favorite thing to do in Union County is to go swimming at Goldfish Swim School!
What is your favorite local restaurant?
There are so many wonderful eateries! Among our favorites are Cioffi’s, Cathay 22, The Chippery and Bhuddah Fish.
What is the best advice you have been given about parenting or life in general?
I once heard that by the time a child turns 18, they have spent 90% of the total amount of time they will spend with their parents! I always keep in mind how little time we have with our kids and try to enjoy every moment.
Also, when things get hard, I always try to keep in mind that “it’s just a phase.”
What are your parenting goals?
My main parenting goal is to raise caring human beings who are good citizens of the community and the world as a whole.
