Meet Lori Tulloch! - Union County Moms

How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?

3. Charlotte, 10, Milly, 8 and Jack 6

How long have you lived in (your town)? What made you decide to live here?

My husband, John, and I moved to Summit in 2004. I was working in the city at the time and he was working in Parsippany so Summit was an easy commute for both of us.

What’s your favorite family activity Chatham, Madison or Summit?

With three little ones the weekends are occupied by sporting events these days. In the summer, we love spending time with friends at the Summit Family Aquatic Center (only 126 days until Memorial Day!).

Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop Chatham, Madison or Summit?

Eat: Pizza Vita is the best pizza around and the owners are great!

Shop: This is a hard one! I try to shop consignment stores first because its more sustainable. My favorites are Sprouts Consignment in Madison for kids and The Collective in Summit for me. I love Summit Health Shoppe – the owner is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to a natural way to nourish your mind and body.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I love to eat out by myself. I usually bring a book and enjoy the alone time. Sadly, I don’t get to do it as much anymore since I’ve had children.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Yes! My parents. They are always helpful in coming to visit when we need coverage. My Mother in Law and Father in Law take the kids to their home in New Hampshire in the summer for a little vacation. And of course, I have a great group of mom friends who help each other out. It truly does take a village.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I am an independent consultant for Beautycounter. Beautycounter is one of the most well-known and fastest growing companies in the clean beauty industry. We are a Certified B Corporation which means we meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

My main focus is to:

• Help women start flexible businesses on their own terms – often around the demands of motherhood.

•Educate women on how to make safer choices for personal care and beauty products. What you put on your body is as important as what you put in your body.

I am grateful for my Beautycounter business because it gives me the opportunity to earn an income while having a social impact.

I also find my volunteer work very fulfilling. It’s important that we protect our environment and teach our children to think more sustainably minded. I serve on the Summit Green Schools Committee which is a group of parents who have the common interest in bringing environmentally friendly practices to our schools.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Summit is a great community. When we moved here we knew no one. I started my business a little over three years ago and although most of my business is virtual, I’ve had so much support from local businesses who have allowed me to have pop-up space. I’m so grateful for small business owners and my local customers. I’ve found that business owners, especially woman owned local business have been my biggest supporters.

What’s your favorite form of self-care?

Exercise! I discovered reformer Pilates a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. I love to go with a friend and we usually grab coffee after class. Check out Club Pilates.

Reading: I’ve just finished The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. One of my goals for 2020 is to read at least one book a month. I’m always looking for recommendations!
